What Makes Yorka Towels Different?

Short answer: unlike standard woven towels, Yorka towels are produced with the warp knitting technique. The face is made of highly absorbent microfiber yarns and the back of cotton terry. They can be printed in photographic quality with digital sublimation and are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1.

Microfiber and cotton together: the best of both

The clearest characteristic of Yorka towels is that they bring two fabric technologies together in one product. The microfiber polyester yarns on the face absorb water within seconds, while the cotton terry structure on the back feels soft and natural against the skin.

This two layer build also has a direct effect on print quality. The microfiber surface takes the dye more deeply and more evenly, so prints come out vivid, sharp and long lasting. The photographic detail that is nearly impossible to achieve on cotton heavy towels is the standard output quality on a Yorka towel.

Warp knitting: how it differs from standard weaving

Traditional towels are made on a loom: weft and warp yarns cross at right angles to form the cloth. In warp knitting the yarns are linked lengthwise in loops instead. The difference sounds small, but the results are not:

• Lighter. Far less raw material is needed for the same absorbency.
• Dries faster. The looped structure improves air circulation, so the towel dries much quicker than its standard counterparts.
• Resists pilling. Compared with weaving, the risk of yarn breakage and pilling is markedly lower.
• Durable. It keeps its appearance through frequent washing and heavy use.

Digital sublimation printing in photographic quality

One of Yorka's most important technical advantages is digital sublimation printing. In this method the dye is driven directly into the fabric under heat and pressure; it does not form a layer on the surface. As a result the print:

• does not fade in sunlight or sea water,
• withstands the chlorine in pool water,
• does not crack, blister or flake off,
• keeps its original vibrancy after washing.

Because of this, Yorka towels hold their first day appearance for years, even in hotel, spa and holiday village use where they are washed repeatedly through a busy season.

OEKO-TEX Class 1: safe enough for babies

Every towel Yorka produces carries the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1 certificate. This certificate proves through independent laboratory testing that the product contains no chemicals harmful to the skin. Class 1 is the strictest grade, the one applied to products for babies and sensitive skin.

Beyond that, the production facility is subject to the SEDEX SMETA 4-Pillar audit and holds Disney FAMA certification, which covers labour rights and environmental standards.

Correct use and care

• Wash at a maximum of 40 °C.
• Iron on low; high temperatures damage microfiber.
• Do not use bleach; it can fade the printed colours.
• Spin at medium speed; the higher the speed, the more the fabric is stressed.
